Auditioning an area rug

A couple of years ago I found a killer deal on a wool shag rug I had been eyeing for months. In our previous home it was perfect. It tied together the living area, added brightness to the room, and felt cozy. But when the movers laid it out in the new house, my plush dream rug fell flat. We tried it with two couches and a few different chairs, but it just wasn’t going to work against the vintage tile. So today we are auditioning this new area rug. It was a marketplace find that I wanted for the Florida room, but when Marc brought it home I noticed the seller had listed the wrong size and it was going to be way too large for there. As for if it will stay in this space…I’m undecided. I think that the flat weave is great and exactly what the room needs, but I’m not sold on the pattern. I’m concerned that it is camouflaging the lines of the furniture. What’s your opinion? Does the pattern add personality, or would a solid orange or beige be a stronger choice?

PS Ignore the big blank wall behind the couch! I’ve had a large canvas in progress for weeks, but work keeps pulling me away from finishing it. It’s getting closer though!
